Step into the earth

Step into the earth

Feel its life embrace you,

A dusty mist surrounds

Envelops your frame.

Roots begin to sprout,

At first a fragile hold

Then a firm grip

On the solid terrain.

A brief time for the leaf

And a strong stem

Brings confidence

And vitality,

A bloom’s beauty

Becomes your silent call.

All around you

Admire your sublime delicacy

Fantastic and fragile,

Frail and then, brittle

At the end of summer

Your time is temporarily over

But you will rise again

In the warmth of the

Spring sunshine,

In the glow of

Summer’s radiance.
