Cheating wind

The raw cheating wind

robs the frightened bird

of the warmth it desires,

and breaks its wing

when the frost bites,

and the sun tires.

The sharp biting rain

harbours the harsh sting

that beats the body down,

and breaks its will

when reality bites,

and the fish drown.
